Cura Day Hospitals Group Completes Acquisition of 22nd Hospital

Cura Day Hospitals Group today announced the acquisition of Newcastle Endoscopy Centre, a two-theatre specialist day hospital located in central-eastern New South Wales. The acquisition was completed on Monday 30th September 2019.

Newcastle Endoscopy Centre commenced operations in 2013 and is the first and only purpose-built Endoscopy Centre in NSW’s Hunter region.

Cura Day Hospitals Group’s Chief Executive Officer, Peter Freeleagus, said that the acquisition would further strengthen their platform for growth within the gastroenterology specialty.

“More than half of Cura’s member hospitals offer gastroenterology specialties and the acquisition of Newcastle Endoscopy Centre further aligns with our approach to providing exceptional care and clinical services to residents of both urban and regional communities,”

said Mr Freeleagus.

“We are pleased to continue our expansion by acquiring this hospital which has an excellent reputation for quality patient care provided by both the Surgeons and its qualified and experienced staff.”

“We extend a very warm welcome to the Doctors and hospital staff joining the Cura Group,” said Mr Freeleagus.

Newcastle Endoscopy Centre is fully certified to ISO9001, accredited to the NSQHS standards and is contracted with all major health funds.
