Kawana Private Hospital Celebrates Major Milestone

October marked a very important month for staff at Kawana Private Hospital, who celebrated the Facility’s 15th anniversary since opening on the Sunshine Coast.

Built in 2006 in response to strong demand for a hospital in the area that provided specialised care for elective surgical patients, the facility has grown in strength over the years.

CEO and Director of Nursing Lisa Clissold said it’s an honour to be at the forefront of the team while the hospital hit this significant milestone.

“Since opening 15 years ago Kawana Private Hospital has assisted many thousands of people and built an outstanding reputation for being a centre of excellence for health care services,” she said.

“This really comes down to the fact we pride ourselves on personalised care and we take a holistic approach to our patients’ stay whether it be day only or an overnight stay.”

To mark this exciting occasion, the team at Kawana Private Hospital celebrated the official anniversary date of 27th October with a staff lunch and cake.

“We thank the Staff and Doctors, both past and present, for where the Facility is today and look forward to the next 15 years of providing care to the Sunshine Coast community and beyond,”

Ms. Clissold said.

The hospital features four operating theatres and offers a broad range of surgical services including Dental, Ear Nose & Throat, General, Oral Maxillofacial, Plastics & Reconstructive, Ophthalmology, Orthopaedics and Pain Management.

Ms. Clissold said its success also comes down to the team environment created by the dedicated and caring staff.

“We often have patients, visitors and employees comment on how welcoming it feels when they walk through our doors and that is something we are very proud of,” she said.

Long-time worker Anita Drever agrees – she’s a registered nurse and joined the team just months after it opened in early 2007.

“My colleagues are like family. I’ve been working here so long they have supported me through so many stages of my life,” Ms. Drever said.

Ms. Drever has watched the hospital evolve over the years and said the biggest changes she’s noticed are the increase in specialties and how busy it is now.

“Because it’s a smaller hospital you feel like you are having a real impact when it comes to patient care,” she said.

“You’re not just a number, we are able to make a real difference and that’s one reason I’ve worked here so long.”

Ms. Drever, who was in her mid-twenties when she first started at Kawana Private Hospital said she enjoys her job so much, she sees herself retiring there.

The whole team looks forward to hitting more milestones and providing excellent healthcare for the Sunshine Coast community for the next 15 years and beyond.
