Subiaco Private Hospital Introduces Paediatric Dental Surgery

Subiaco Private Hospital (SPH) is pleased to announce the introduction of paediatric dental surgery, marking an important step in the hospital’s commitment to delivering inclusive and compassionate care to all patients, particularly children with special needs.

This new offering builds on the hospital’s innovative partnership during the COVID-19 pandemic, which provided vaccination under sedation for children with neurodiversity challenges.

That initiative reinforced Subiaco Private Hospital’s reputation for high-quality, patient-centred care and demonstrated the team’s capability in safely managing complex paediatric cases with sensitivity and clinical excellence.

“The introduction of paediatric dental surgery reflects our deep commitment to creating safe, tailored healthcare experiences, particularly for vulnerable patient groups, and shows our values in action,” said Subiaco Private Hospital’s CEO Andrea LeGuier.

The SPH team, led by Director of Nursing Keri Brandis, ensures that every child’s experience is as positive and comforting as possible.

The paediatric surgical service has been carefully designed with the child’s experience in mind and even small gestures can make a meaningful difference

“Post-procedure each child receives a surprise balloon of their favourite character and a colourful dental care pack featuring a toothbrush and toothpaste,” said Ms Brandis.

This new surgical specialty is delivered in collaboration with Toothbuds, a specialist paediatric dental practice renowned for its expertise in caring for children with autism spectrum disorder, sensory sensitivities, behavioural challenges, and developmental delays.

“We’re delighted to welcome the expert team from Toothbuds, led by Specialist Paediatric Dentist Dr Rod Jennings,” said Ms Brandis.

Subiaco Private Hospital’s new paediatric dental service is a reflection of the hospital’s mission to create safe, meaningful, and positive healthcare experiences for children.
