Chermside Day Hospital, located in the northern suburbs of Brisbane, is proudly celebrating its 15th anniversary.
Chermside Day Hospital was founded in 2008 by a group of visionary doctors and investors who sought to address the unmet healthcare needs in the Chermside area.
Cura Day Hospitals Group CEO Andrew Currie said since its inception, the hospital has been dedicated to providing high-quality healthcare services to over 100,000 patients, making a significant impact on the health and well-being of the local community.
“The hospital's mission has evolved over the years to become a trusted healthcare provider for the community, while still maintaining its stature of being an efficient, boutique hospital for those doctors who work here,” he said.
Over the course of its history, Chermside Day Hospital has achieved numerous milestones and made remarkable contributions to healthcare in the region.
“In 2018, the hospital expanded from one theatre and a procedure room to two theatres and a procedure room, increasing its capacity to serve patients.
“The range of specialties offered by the hospital has also grown, now encompassing Maxillofacial, Plastic & Reconstructive, and Ophthalmology.
“We expanded into Ophthalmics due to the pressing need of the community to be able to access eye surgery outside the city confines,” Mr Currie added.
Notably, Chermside was the first site in the Southern Hemisphere to trial Artificial Intelligence for Endoscopy, a technology it now utilises to enhance patient care.
“The hospital’s commitment to medical advancements, such as AI technology in endoscopy, and the expansion of its facilities to meet growing demand, underline its dedication to staying at the forefront of healthcare.”
To mark this 15-year milestone, the hospital celebrated with a small gathering featuring a commemorative cake adorned with photos of some of the founding staff and Doctors.
Additionally, plans are underway for a formal celebration towards the end of the year, where Doctors and staff will come together to celebrate this remarkable achievement, incorporating the hospital’s Christmas festivities.
