Devonport Eye Hospital proudly celebrated the 10th anniversary of its first surgical list this year, marking a decade of providing exceptional eye care to Tasmania’s North West coast community.
Built in 2014 by Ophthalmologist Dr. Michael Haybittel, the hospital has provided high quality healthcare services to over 14,000 patients.
Alongside Cura Day Hospitals Group, Dr Haybittel continues to play an active role in the hospital’s management.
The day hospital was designed to meet the unique needs of ophthalmic surgery patients, ensuring the highest quality care in a comfortable, specialised environment.
The hospital’s 10th anniversary is also a time to celebrate the commitment and dedication of the staff, many who have been with the hospital since its early days.
Scrub Nurse Danielle Emmett, celebrating 10 years’ service in May, said it has been a privilege to witness the hospital’s growth and transformation over the past decade.
“I’ve seen the hospital grow from the beginning. It’s great to work with such a dedicated team, contributing to the high level of care we provide to our patients and the Devonport community.”
Nurse Cheryl O’Leary, another long-standing member of the team, echoed Danielle’s sentiment.
It’s truly a special place to work, and I’m proud to be part of a team that’s so focused on providing the best possible care for our patients,” said Mrs O’Leary.
The success of Devonport Eye Hospital is a direct result of the collaboration between its talented Surgeons, highly trained nursing staff, and administrative team.
This collaboration ensures Surgeons’ preferences for equipment, scheduling, and surgical techniques are fully supported. As a result, every patient receives personalised, expert Ophthalmic care, delivered with the support of the latest in ophthalmic technology.
