CEO / Director nursing Jasmin Harris said that the hospital’s specialisation in Ophthalmics means the staff are well-versed in various eye procedures.
“Many have substantial experience in Vitreo-Retinal procedures, and for those who are new to this field, we’ve provided comprehensive in-service education.
“We were also able to facilitate staff opportunities to observe procedures at other Cura facilities to ensure their proficiency.”
One of the key elements enabling this new service is the advanced Alcon Constellation vision system and Resight viewing system, and the purchase of a new Zeiss microscope for this service.
The facility anticipates taking on 50 to 100 cases each year initially, with expectations for this number to grow as awareness of the service spreads and more patients turn to the hospital and local Ophthalmologists for their eye care needs.
