Chesterville Day Hospital Opening New GI Theatre

Chesterville Day Hospital is excited to announce the opening of their newly renovated GI theatre.

The stand-alone day hospital currently has two theatres, and one of those is undergoing a full renovation to cater for more endoscopy procedures.

CEO/Director of Nursing Mary Kirkwood said this new case mix means there will be a higher volume of work and days will be busier.

“This theatre enhancement has reinvigorated Chesterville Day Hospital,”

“This is a milestone occasion for our hospital and many opportunities lie ahead.”

Mrs. Kirkwood said more efficient turnaround with procedures means the flow works better and she can have more control over theatre scheduling and staff rostering.

“We have started doing extra training in the area of endoscopy to ensure everyone is completely up to date with current knowledge and practices,”
she said.

“I am also recruiting more staff at the moment which is really exciting and great for the industry.”

Cura Day Hospitals Group has invested in all new equipment and has also arranged for a new washroom to be installed.

“It comes back to pride in the facility, and this is state-of-the-art equipment including the latest Olympus imaging system and scopes,” Mrs Kirkwood said.

“There is a general vibe of excitement from the staff, everyone has come to me and said they’re really looking forward to this change.”

Chesterville Day Hospital is passionate about supporting doctors, colleagues, and patients to ensure everything is up to the highest standards, and continually strives for improvement.
