Somerset Private Hospital Celebrates 5th Anniversary

Somerset Private Hospital is celebrating five years of delivering high-quality surgical care to the Western Sydney community, marking an important milestone in the hospital’s history and recognising the Doctors and staff who have helped shape its success since opening in 2021.

Located within the Nepean Health Precinct in Penrith, Somerset Private Hospital has established itself as a trusted provider of specialist surgical services, offering a broad range of procedures across Ophthalmology, Plastics and Reconstructive Surgery, Orthopaedics, Gastroenterology, Gynaecology, Ear, Nose and Throat Surgery, and Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery.

Since opening its doors, the hospital has continued to evolve to meet the growing healthcare needs of the region. The facility has four operating theatres and 12 overnight beds, enhancing access to specialist surgical care for patients across Western Sydney.

Today, Somerset Private Hospital is an accredited multi-disciplinary hospital featuring modern operating theatres, overnight accommodation and leading-edge technology and equipment that support both adult and paediatric patients.

To mark the occasion, staff gathered for a celebratory lunch on Wednesday 7th October, providing an opportunity to reflect on the hospital’s journey and acknowledge the contributions of those who have been part of its success over the past five years.

Somerset Private Hospital CEO / Director of Nursing, Nav Kaur, said the anniversary was an opportunity to celebrate both the hospital’s achievements and the people behind them.

"Five years is an important milestone for Somerset Private Hospital and one that reflects the commitment of our entire team," Ms Kaur said.

“Since opening in 2021, we have focused on delivering safe, high-quality care while creating a welcoming environment for patients, Doctors and visitors.”

“We are incredibly proud of what has been achieved over the past five years. Through the dedication of our staff and the support of our Doctors, Somerset has grown into a trusted healthcare provider for the Penrith and greater Western Sydney community.”

A highlight of the celebrations was recognising staff and Doctors who have supported Somerset Private Hospital since its opening and who are now celebrating five years of service.

The hospital acknowledged the following team members – Penny Adams RN, Courtney Brown RN, Sheena Chandran RN, Jessica Cross EN, Jacinta Goncalves RN, Alison Keat RN, Elizabeth Matthew RN, Fiona Strachan RN and Manju Thomas RN.

Ms Kaur said these individuals have played an important role in establishing the hospital’s culture, reputation and commitment to excellence.

“Our people are at the heart of everything we do, and it is important to recognise those who have been with us from the very beginning,” she said.

“Their dedication to patient care, teamwork and continuous improvement has helped shape Somerset Private Hospital into the respected organisation it is today.”

As Somerset Private Hospital celebrates this important milestone, the hospital remains focused on meeting the healthcare needs of its growing community through ongoing investment in facilities, technology and people.

“While we are proud of the past five years, we are equally excited about the future,” Ms Kaur said.

“We look forward to continuing to work alongside our Doctors and staff to deliver outstanding care and improve access to high-quality surgical services for our community for many years to come.”
