Somerset Private Hospital Creates New IVF Partnership

Somerset Private Hospital is excited to announce a new partnership that will help deliver crucial IVF services to local families.

Fertility Specialist Dr. Jinny Foo said that Monash IVF recently expanded in the Nepean area and was looking for a facility it could work closely with, which led to a new partnership with Somerset Private Hospital.

“Monash IVF in Penrith has been servicing the local community for a long time and we are thrilled to be able to continue to support patients from Greater Western Sydney and the Blue Mountains no matter what stage of their fertility journey they’re on and no matter how complex their case may seem,” she said.

Somerset Private Hospital CEO/Director of Nursing Marc Monsell said their role in the procedure is to collect the eggs from the women.

“Patients are referred via Monash IVF and they are booked into an operating theatre with us for the procedure,” he said.

“The patient receives a light anaesthetic and the fertility specialist performs the procedure with our nursing assistance.”

Monash IVF is located in the same building as Somerset Private Hospital – the Somerset Specialist Building.

“Having the hospital in the same building is great for patients receiving treatment as they do not need to travel between sites,”

“The team at Somerset Private work closely with the fertility specialists to ensure patients have ease of access and their treatment is optimised.”

Somerset Private Hospital prioritises patient care, and all staff feel privileged to be involved in such an important procedure.

“Fertility treatment can be a very exciting time but also a daunting process,” he said.

“Patients come into the process with many unknowns and it’s important to have a supportive, caring team around them.”

Mr Monsell said the service has been offered for just over a month now, and feedback has been really positive.

“We ensure patients are scheduled at times that are best for their fertility treatment to optimise outcomes,” he said.”
